8. sagebrush (n.)

9. sundial (n.)
-a device used outdoors, especially in the past, for telling the time when the sun is shining. A pointed piece of metal throws a shadow on a flat surface that is marked with the hours like a clock, and the shadow moves around as the sun moves across the sky.

10. rigorous (adj.)

11. fungus (n.)

12. decay (n.)

13. ingredient (n.)

14. decompose (v.)
-(1)to be destroyed gradually by natural chemical processes

15. debris (n.)
-(1)pieces of wood, metal, brick, etc. that are left after something has been destroyed
-(2)pieces of material that are not wanted and rubbish/garbage that are left somewhere
-example: Look at this debris.
16. tuning (n.)
(music) calibrating something (an instrument or electronic circuit) to a standard frequency
-example: The conductor pays attention to the tuning.
17. pecan (n.)
-the nut of the American pecan tree with a smooth pinkish-brown shell
-example: Buy some pecans when you get home.
18. eliminate (v.)
-(1)to remove or get rid of something/somebody; to defeat a person or a team so that they no longer take part in a competition, etc
-(2)to kill somebody, especially an enemy or opponent
-example: Eliminate that theft if you can.

22. rosemary (n.)
-a bush with small narrow leaves that smell sweet and are used in cooking as a herb

23. skeleton (n.)
-the structure of bones that supports the body of a person or an animal
-example: I hate seeing the skeleton.
24. stem (v.)
